All the stars gather in France
The Olympic Champions of Denmark, with the World’s best player Mikkel Hansen, at the Paris AccorHotels Arena, the French “Experts”, on hoping for a sixth world championship title on home ground, the Germans leaded by Uwe Gensheimer, the Croatians, the Spanish of Raul Enterrios, looking for revenge after missing the Olympic Games … Let’s not forget about the new stars from Norway and Slovenia, the Qatari team who won the sliver medal at home in 2015 or the Brazilian, who qualified to quarterfinals in Rio during the Olympic Games… The world’s best players will be in the eight French arenas from 11th to 29th of January. Pure « Phenomenal Handball » ahead!
A simple and straightforward competition formula
Twenty four teams, four groups of six teams to face each other once at the group stage resulting in an overall ranking. The first four qualify for the last 16 and face each other on different groups (A/B and C/D) according to their ranking (the first against the fourth, the second against the third…). This is followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. Those who finish fifth and sixth in the four groups then face each other at the Coupe du Président.
Modern and comfortable arenas
Today, France has modern arenas allowing the audience an easy access and a maximum comfort. Albertville Olympic Hall, Nantes XXL Hall and Paris AcchorHotels Arena have been fully renovated these past years, Montpellier’s Arena, Rouen’s Kindarena and Brest’s Arena were inaugurated between 2010 and 2014, and let’s not forget about Metz’s Arenes and the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium in L.ille that should help break the affluence record in a Men’s World championship indoor game (27,500)… Tickets will be available for every game, including the final, at all price levels.
A ticketing policy that is open to as many as possible
Following the initial phase of group ticket sales that ran from October 2015 to August 2016, individual tickets have gone on public sale since the 15th of September giving fans the chance to book their tickets for the World Championship. To allow all audiences to enjoy an unforgettable and phenomenal experience at the World Championships in France in January 2017, the Organising Committee has implemented a balanced policy offering tickets for all sessions (a session is equivalent to a match), including for the final on January 29th, at affordable rates. An exchange platform will be running, and almost all of the tickets will be electronic.
A dream team of ambassadors
The Men’s Handball World Championship organising committee has assembled an eclectic and passionate group of ambassadors to promote the event; comedienne Claudia Tagbo, a funny and communicative “phenomenal Ambassador” and handball fan is joined by star DJ FEDER who has created LORDLY, the official event soundtrack to get the opening show fired up at the AccorHotels Arena on the 11th of January. Four key figures in the world of handball, all world champions during their careers; Valérie Nicolas, Jérôme Fernandez, Bruno Martini and Philippe Gardent join as ambassadors. Last but not least, event mascots Rok and Koolette, will be there to warm up the crowd.
