The 2017 IHF Men’s World Championship will be broken down into two stages: the group stage and the final knockout stage.
The group stage starts on Wednesday, 11th January 2017 at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris with France against Brazil. This stage continues from Thursday, 12th to Friday, 20th January. Four cities (Metz, Nantes, Rouen and Paris) will stage this first round, each of them hosting all of the games of one group.
The top four teams from each group qualify for the second stage, made up of sixteen teams, while the teams who came 5th and 6th in each group will play the President’s Cup (in Brest). Four cities (Albertville, Lille Métropole, Montpellier and Paris) will each host two second rounds and one quarter-final. The AccorHotels Arena in Paris will then be the stage for the semi-finals, the third place playoffs and the final on Sunday, 29th January.
