Efficient against Slovenia on Sunday, William Accambray is in the final French list of 16 players for the World Championship. Dumoulin, Mem, Claire and Kounkoud didn’t make the cut while Yanis Lenne will travel with the team as a reserve player.
Didier Dinart and Guillaume unveiled on Tuesday the 16 players who will play the World Championship. A day before the opening game against Brazil, at Paris AccorHotels Arena, the two head coaches of the French team had to remove four names: goalkeeper Cyril Dumoulin (Nantes), right back Dika Mem (Barcelona), the centre back Nicolas Claire (Nantes) and right winger Benoit Kounkoud (PSG). Yanis Lenne, the young right wing from Sélestat, will be the 17th player, i.e. a reserve player who will gain huge experience by being present in the camp.
The uncertainty regarding the left back position has been cleared up. Questions hung over Timothey N’Guessan who will be able to be there; injured during the last preparation match against Slovenia on Sunday (33:26), the Barcelona player has been included in the list, as has William Accambray, who put in a solid outing during the first half in Montpellier. For the rest, it’s still the classical goalkeeping duo of Thierry Omeyer and Vincent Gerard while all remaining key players are fit.
