Talant Dujshebaev, the Spanish head coach of the Polish team, unveiled the names of the 21 players who will prepare the 2017 World Championship.
The list of 21 players communicated on tuesday by the Polish Federation marks the beginning of a new era for the last World Championship’s bronze medalist. It is indeed the first selection gathered by head coach Talant Dujshebaev since the announcement of the international retirement of Slawomir Szmal, Karol Bielecki and Krzysztof Lijewski, who are three of the best Polish players of all time.
Poland will thus be deprived of those three mythical and experienced players, and the team will also have to do without one of its usual stars, Michal Jurecki. Euro 2016’s best left back has injured his right hand and will not be fit for the World Championship.
The names of the 16 players who will play 2017 World Championship will be unveiled on January 10th. Poland will then begin the World Championship against Norway, on January 12th, at Nantes’ Hall XXL, where they will play all their first round games. The following opponents for Poland will successively be Brazil (January 14th), Russia (January 16th), Japan (January17th) and France (January 19th).
