STAY ON THE PODIUM
With the arrival of Talant Dujshebaev as their coach in February 2016, taking over from the German Michael Biegler, Poland starts a new cycle after the disappointment of Euro 2016 at home (where it came 7th). Under the watchful eye of the Spanish technical director who won the 2016 Champions League with the Polish club in Kielce that produced numerous international players, the Gladiators (Gladiatorzy) clinched qualification for the Rio Olympics after missing out on the Games in 2008 and 2012. Bronze medallists at the 2015 World Championship in Qatar, the Poles narrowly missed out on getting the same in Rio. Beaten by Germany for the bronze, they ended the Olympics in 4th place. However, Poland has demonstrated its ability to rise through the ranks of the global elite. In France, it definitely plans to stay there.
